our second lecture left me thinking about how information can and should be transferred most effectively.

is storytelling comparable to baking a cake? with the same ingredients being used every time, but two cakes never baked the same, when anecdotes are told, they are defined by the significant events within, however can and will be told in hundreds of different ways by different people telling the SAME STORY. and what happens if the story is translated across languages? the bible has been translated to the most amount of languages, but does baudelaire’s poetry have the same meaning when communicated in english? perhaps not.

so is there a perfect way to tell a story? should no details be changed from the first time its told? you cant really re word a poem, as its the words that make the meaning, rather than the story alone. perhaps the beauty of a story is the way it’s told. adjectives have the power to shape the story; if you bullet-pointed a list of events, it would be mundane and soulless- like a computer wrote it. and maybe there is beauty in that degree of simplicity, using the least amount of words to produce a story -perfectly objective, letting the reader fill all voids and vagaries with assumptions and imagination.
